A BIT ABOUT WHO WE ARE

Oxford University Lightweight Rowing Club has been training scholar athletes and fielding crews to compete against and beat Cambridge at the Lightweight Boat Races year on year since 1975. In the 2019-20 season the Club gained Full Blue status and achieved its second consecutive win on the tideway.

Since its founding, the Club has developed into one of the premier lightweight rowing programmes in the country, consistently ranking in the top university crews in the UK at BUCS and in Europe at the European University Games. OULRC has won 5 championship medals at BUCS and 2 medals at EUSA in the past 2 years.

We often take on rowers who have just started at University and never rowed before then. In this way, we are aiming to try and increase access to a great sport that is often seen as elitist and breaking down those barriers so anyone can take part as long as they are skilled and work hard.
