Job Vacancy - Head Coach

Oxford University Lightweight Rowing Club

 

Remuneration: £40,000 pro rata, Fixed term contract  September - March. 

 

OULRC are hiring for a new head coach for the upcoming season. This would be a full time role during the season (September-March) and involves ~8 sessions a week, both land and water. These would be undertaken alongside management duties, competitions, as well as training on the Tideway. The squad often competes at UK and international events such as EUSA, BUCS, Henley Royal Regatta, and the various Head races. 

 

This role would provide an ideal opportunity for a candidate currently at the assistant coach level of a competitive program to run their own. OULRC’s head coach has responsibilities for all aspects of training and selection. This year’s squad are hungry for a victory in the 2024 Boat Race and we are looking for a coach that will facilitate this. 

 

OULRC’s most recent head coaches have gone into roles as Chief Coach at both OUBC and OUWBC as well as at Monmouth School. Wallingford provides a beautiful stretch of approximately 16 kilometres to train on, with great facilities at both the Fleming Boathouse and Iffley Road Sports Centre. 

 

An ideal candidate will have/ be able to:

  • Experience coaching as part of a high-performing rowing program. 

  • RYA level 2 powerboat handling or equivalent

  • Trailer towing experience 

  • Clean driving licence

  • BR coaching lvl2 or equivalent

  • First aid training

  • Right to work in the UK
