Nephthys Regatta 2020

Unfortunately given the current government, British Rowing and University advice, sadly the regatta must be CANCELLED.

We are incredibly disappointed but thank you for your enthusiasm and hope to see you next year!

Stash is on its way and will be delivered to colleges as soon as it arrives.

Stay safe!

We are pleased to announce that this year, our COVID-Secure regatta will be held on Friday 13th & Saturday 14th November 2020.

About the regatta

Nephthys Regatta is an intercollegiate race held annually in Michaelmas and run by OULRC. The Regatta is an 800m race up-stream, from standing start.  The course will be comprised of two buoyed lanes. The start will be at Longbridges and the finish the Cox stone. Seniors will race on Friday 13th November and Novices will race on Saturday 14th November. Racing will start at 1.30pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday and continue to dusk (approximately 4pm).

COVID-19

We have been working hard to be able to run a COVID-Secure event for 2020. The Regatta will be run in line with guidance from the UK Government, British Rowing, University of Oxford and OURCs. Details of all controls in place can be found in the Safety Plan and Risk Assessment below.

It is imperative that any competitor or coach withdraws from the event and self-isolates if symptomatic, have tested positive for COVID-19 within the 10 days prior to competition or have been contacted by test and trace services within the 14 days prior to competition. Crews must adhere to British Rowing and OURCs COVID-Secure guidelines at all times. Athletes should maintain 2m social distancing before and after boating. Coxes should wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): both a face covering and eye protection in stern-loaded boats; or a face covering in bow-loaded boats. Rowing should be with the full crew where safe and possible. All equipment should be sanitised after use and crews should aim to minimise equipment sharing as much as possible in order to negate any risk of COVID-19 transmission.

The regatta will be open to multiple categories of boats*:

Prizes

All race winners will receive an engraved medal.

We are also using a Victor Ludorum system, with a trophy for the overall winner (over both days). We are using the scoring system as follows:

  • Winning a regular race (Heats + QF) = 1 points

  • Winning a semi-final = 2 points

  • Winning the final = 3

The college with the highest overall score over all categories will win the trophy (which we will engrave).
